Nicola + Lee

One early...(very early for me anyway) Saturday morning in beautiful Glasgow the scene was set for a romantic urban stroll with Nicola & Lee. Its a very rare occasion that I'm up and out by 7.15am; the glorious benefits of self employment.  However, when you see what the morning light has to offer it might be something I'm inclined to do more often.

It was a real pleasure taking in the quiet streets of the city with this sweet couple.  Who despite confessing to be a little camera shy showed now signs of it when together.  So much so we had no idea where the time had gone...four hours in still roaming around taking pictures, talking architecture and shampoo ;)  I'm so looking forward to documenting their big day in a couple months, in the opposite very rural setting of Crear.

Ruth Egginton - Scarves With Edge

This post is long over due, in-fact 3 months overdue but they say better late than never.  2016 started out just as any photographer would hope, with a client open minded enough to completely change direction on their brief.  Working with print designer Ruth was a complete joy, shooting certain products can sometimes be limiting.  However, if your client can see your vision then there's real possibility to create something unique, edgy and individual which is exactly what happened. The aim of the concept was to showcase Ruth's organic designs by off-setting them against a contrasting environment. The crisp neutral structures offered us a blank canvas similar to what you'd get from basic product shots, but with much more interest, and the hard light meant the shadows play the role of creating depth. I loved working on this shoot, everything from building the set to editing the final shots was right up my street.  Ruth was kind enough to share her point of view on the process.

"Susan was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. When I first contacted her, I didn’t have a clear idea of how I wanted to present my silk scarves, but she really helped come up with a concept for the photo shoot. The photos were contemporary and timeless, exactly what I asked for, and the professional quality of the photos really shows off my product range."

"Susan is very approachable and easy to talk to, and kept me informed at every stage. She was able to work to my deadline, yet work with diligence. I will be using her service again for my next collection without any reservations."

Sally + Ally

I was so excited to be asked to photograph well known Edinburgh based millner, Sally-Ann Provan's wedding (something i don't often do, but how could I refuse).  Usually she's the first port of call for any bride whose after something special to complement the all important dress. Or if like me to commission that unique hat that only the wonderful mother of the bride deserves. But now its Sally's turn to be the bell of the ball, and to get things started we ventured out with husband to be Ally for a little pre wedding catch up.  Such a lovely couple, I found out so much about them that it was like photographing friends.  Can't wait for the big day!
